WoW Forever Warlock Guide

Use this WoW Forever Warlock guide to compare Affliction effects, Demonology companion synergies and Destruction casting. All three are ranged damage paths. Plan health, mana and demon commands together, then check current sacrifice and spell conditions before saving a routine for solo or group play.

Why choose Warlock?

ClassWarlock
Talents3
Level60
  • A demon changes how you manage attention and incoming pressure.
  • Different trees support periodic, pet-focused and direct spell routines.
  • The current Demonology tree connects Demonic Sacrifice, Soul Link and Demonic Pact.
  • The official preview separates damaging Banes from utility Curses.

Tradeoffs

  • Pet behavior and resources add decisions to ordinary casting.
  • Life Tap's resource exchange needs health awareness and consideration for healers.
  • Damage-over-time effects and control must respect the party's target plan.

  1. Learn the resource exchange

    • Watch health and mana together rather than treating either as free.
    • Put demon attack, passive and recall commands within reach.

A companion and a resource conversion help only while you remain in control.

  2. Choose the repeated routine

    • Inspect Affliction for periodic and draining play or Demonology for stronger pet relationships.
    • Inspect Destruction if direct Fire and Shadow interactions are the attraction.

The same class can ask for very different attention patterns.

  3. Coordinate effects and recovery

    • Agree control targets before spreading periodic damage.
    • Use resource recovery at a time that does not surprise the healer during danger.

A sustainable group routine includes other players' resource budgets.

Choose what you want to manage

Warlock is more than a caster with an extra health bar beside it. You manage the demon's behavior, your own health and mana, and effects that may continue after you stop casting. Affliction suits interest in maintaining periodic damage and using drains. Demonology brings the companion relationship forward. Destruction is the place to inspect if direct spell interactions are what you enjoy. All three remain ranged damage paths.

Start with a controllable, repeatable pull. Know which demon command stops an unwanted attack and keep enough awareness to recover when attention changes. A resource exchange is useful when you choose its timing; it is not an excuse to ignore your health. This is why a seemingly safe solo routine still requires practice rather than a promise that the pet will solve every difficult enemy.

Bring a sustainable routine into groups

Group play adds other people's control targets and resources to your decisions. Periodic damage should not break an agreed setup, and a sudden need for healing after resource conversion can arrive at the worst moment. Plan recovery around the situation instead of treating the healer as an extension of your mana bar. Your contribution includes keeping the encounter predictable.

The current export gives the exact Demonology and Destruction milestones used in the planner. Read the conditions around sacrifice effects, active demons and spell interactions; old guides may describe an earlier version. The official separation between Banes and utility Curses explains the direction of the toolkit, but does not make every effect stack without limits. Save a build named for its routine and inspect the current tooltip when changing a key branch.

Common mistakes and how to fix them

Using Life Tap without watching the party's situation.

Consider both your health and the healer's current work before converting resources.

Applying periodic damage to an agreed control target.

Confirm which enemies must remain undamaged.

Assuming every sacrifice effect survives every summon.

Inspect the current Demonic Pact and sacrifice conditions in the build you are using.

Common questions

Can Trolls be Warlocks?

Yes. Troll Warlock is marked in the official Forever matrix.

Do all Warlock trees deal ranged damage?

Yes. Their periodic, demon and direct-casting routines differ, but none is classified here as a player tank or healer.

Can I assume any sacrificed demon bonus persists?

No. Read the current sacrifice and Demonic Pact conditions before planning combinations.

How should I choose a first Warlock specialization?

Inspect Affliction if maintaining periodic effects and using drains appeals to you. Choose Demonology to focus on demon relationships, or compare Destruction for direct Fire and Shadow interactions. The best fit depends on what you enjoy managing, not an invented damage measurement.

How should I use Life Tap without surprising the healer?

Consider your health, mana and the danger the healer is already handling. Choose a safe recovery moment and communicate recurring needs in a regular party. Resource conversion is not a reason to treat another player's healing budget as unlimited.

What if my demon attacks a target the party wanted to control?

Stop the unwanted command, recall deliberately and tell the party what changed. Check whether your own lingering effects are also damaging the target. Fix commands and target agreements before changing a damage branch that cannot undo the same setup mistake.
